Projection Televisions Are The Energy-Smart Choice |

Anyone who wants to have a big-screen television in the family media room must also consider the yearly energy costs of owning a widescreen television. If you want to watch a widescreen plasma TV, it will use more energy than your average refrigerator, and probably cost you around $300 a year in energy costs (if you figure an average cost of 12 cents per kilowatt hour). Most models of the LCD HDTV will cost you less in energy costs. However, if you want to go with the absolutely most energy-efficient widescreen TV, you need to think long and hard about buying projection televisions. Projection televisions have been around since the 1970s and originally had a reputation for fuzzy, washed-out pictures with thin colors. However, if that's your image of projection televisions, you need to start looking at the latest models, which have pictures that compare with the best LCD HDTV sets, or even some brands of plasma TVs. Aside from being more energy efficient than plasma TVs, projection TVs usually cost less, and allow you to have a bigger screen for the money that you do spend. Some people go with ceiling or wall-mounted projection TVs for their home theater system, with a screen that can be rolled up into the ceiling when you don't feel like watching TV and want to use the room for entertaining or something else. Because I am concerned with my family's the carbon footprint my family creates, I decided to start looking at projection televisions. My comparison shopping was made a lot easier when I found a website called Love's Electronics (surf over to http://www.loveselectronics.com to find it). One of the things that I really like about comparison shopping on the Internet is that I don't have to drive around in the summer heat to find what I'm looking for. Online shopping is the most convenient option I've found, especially when gas prices keep going up. You may have to pay for shipping what you buy, but you'll save a lot on gas, to say nothing of wear and tear on your nerves. Thanks to the Love's Electronics website I got a nice deal on one of the best projection televisions on the market right now. I got an Elite Screens ez-Cinema Portable Projection Screen. The picture is great on this screen, and it boasts a gigantic 100 inch diagonal measurement so it's just like watching my favorite movies at a theater, since my home theater system provides great sound. |
