garmin gps

Last year my nephew joined the Boy Scouts and has been having the time of his life ever since. He's always been a little shy, so joining the Boy Scouts has allowed him to meet other boys with his same interests and has actually really drawn him out of his shell. He's planning his first camping trip with the group in a few weeks, and he called me a few days ago to ask if he could borrow our Garmin GPS. I teased him and told him that I thought the Boy Scouts used compasses and he informed me quickly that, it was in the old days when they did things like that, because now they all used Garmin GPS systems to ensure that they didn't get lost. I asked him what he'd do if his Garmin GPS failed or if the batteries went out, and he said that they always have a backup plan, but that he had never heard any stories about anyone being stranded in the wilderness because their Garmin GPS had failed. I guess he had me on that one, because I hadn't either. I told him that he was more than welcome to borrow our Garmin GPS as long as his mom didn't mind, and he assured me that she didn't.

Later that evening, while I was cooking dinner, I had an idea. I called my husband into the kitchen and asked him what he thought about us ordering my nephew a Garmin GPS for his trip and letting it be an early Christmas present. He thought that was a great idea, so I picked up the phone and called my sister to see what their ideas were on the subject. She thought that us buying him a Garmin GPS was way too generous, but she said that she knew he would love having a Garmin GPS of his own, since he was the only one having to borrow one. I told her to consider it a done deal and I'd order it that evening.

When I finished dinner and the dishes, I ordered the Garmin GPSMAP 60 Portable Navigator
for my nephew from Love's Electronics who can be found online at www.loveselectronics.com. The Garmin GPS that I ordered is the same one that we have, so I know that it's easy to use and I can show my nephew how to use it before he heads off on his trip. I can't wait to see the look on his face when I tell him that the Garmin is his to keep!
