My brothers and I went in on an awesome gift for my navigationally-challenged father: a Garmin GPS unit for his car. My dad is a traveling salesman and has been involved in his career for over forty years. We decided – after much collaborative thought together on the subject – that one of the most useful gifts for dad would be a Garmin GPS unit for his car so that he could better find his way around when he is driving across the country selling products for his company. Dad always used to be one of those guys who frequently had to stop at gas stations for directions. I can’t even tell you how many family road trips that this direction asking routine took place. So it did make some great deal of sense to get dad a Garmin GPS for his birthday this year, we just didn’t think that he would be that crazy about it. My dad called me the other day to thank me, and he was just ecstatic about his new Garmin GPS. “It gets me everywhere I need to go,” he said. “Thanks son, this was one of the most useful gifts anybody has ever bought for me!”
